The Sachs Covered Bridge

"This is one of the most inspired projects ever undertaken;  this great conservation effort merits the gratitude of the American people."

the late Senator Everett Dirksen

The Sachs Covered Bridge was owned and preserved by the GBPA's efforts after a winter flood.  It is located near the Eisenhower farm.  Through a joint partnership between local governments, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, and donations from various Gettysburg businesses and organizations, this historic wooden structure was  reestablished on its stone piers.  Built in 1852, the bridge was used during the battle and is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places.
